Nuts for Football - An Easy Superbowl Snack

Whether you love football or not,
it is hard to resist all the fanfare of the Super Bowl!
The easiest snack I am making for the game?
Football Almonds...

Kick off the game with a big bowl and everyone will go nuts...

Simply lace up your almonds with an edible white marker and you are done.
(raw or lightly salted almonds work best)

Have a ball watching the game...

Super Bowl Super Food Hot Dogs

An event as epic as The Super Bowl needs Super Food.
This year we are keeping it simple and vibrant by
kicking things off with "super food" topped hot dogs.
A quick rush to the Farmer's Market to intercept fresh greens was all it took...

Loaded with vitamin C, Calcium and Carotenoids,
my bunch of Tatsoi greens, pack a big punch...
(but you could easily substitute spinach)

Good for your immune system, heart, eye-sight, hair, bones, teeth and skin.
I added shallots, lightly fried in olive oil until crisp...

Typically you don't see a bouquet of watercress at a Super Bowl party
but I'm hoping it'll be a new trend!

It can help lower blood pressure, which all avid football fans need help with.
Worried about all those fatty, salty party foods?
It also aids in lowering cholesterol.
Watercress always reminds me of tea sandwiches,
so here I've added cucumbers with a touch of lemon juice and zest.
So much freshness and crunch!

Hot dogs and mustard are a classic pair.
Hot dogs and Osaka Purple Mustard leaves are a new taste sensation...

It has many of the benefits of the Tatsoi and watercress,
but it also helps detoxify your blood and liver.
So you can feel good about having your's with an ice cold beer on game day.
Along with the mustard greens,
this half time snack was topped with grape tomatoes,
marinated in a little balsamic vinegar and olive oil.

The Hangover Arrangement for Super Bowl Monday

For some, yesterday's Super Bowl festivities
may have made Monday morning not so merry.

But, I have an arrangement for that.
A post-bowl bouquet,
to make your ailments go away!

After all that football manliness, you need a little something pretty,
that smells amazing.
A lovely, simple mixture of lavender and mint is just what the doctor ordered.

The calming, smoothing scent of lavender has been known to help with
fatigue, headaches, nausea, stress and depression
(so sorry Carolina fans for your loss).
The refreshing aroma of mint can aid your concentration, boost energy,
elevate mood and even aid in digestion
(in case you are regretting that last chicken wing).

And we all know the benefits of staying hydrated,
so the only appropriate vase is a box of water.
(after you've guzzled it down, of course)

Cheers to a great Super Bowl 50 in the books.
Hats off Bay Area, you made us proud!

Stogies and Hoagies - Fun Football Watch Party

Football Season is in full swing
and we are gearing up for the parade of bowl and playoff games.
What better way to cheer on your favorite team but a casual
Stogies and Hoagies Party
with great friends?

Delicious sandwiches paired with ice cold beers
and fun, flavorful Cubero Cigars.
They all go together so well, it's no wonder it rhymes!

The hoagie buffet is easy to set up and
lets everyone build their own masterpiece between plays, at half time or anytime.
I put together trays of Italian meats and vegetables,
such as shredded lettuce, red and spicy peppers, tomatoes and thinly sliced white onion.

But the secret ingredient to the perfect hoagie is our special sauce...

Once you compile your ultimate creation...

drizzle on the sauce...

and dig in!

The combination of the tangy hoagies, a crisp, cold pale ale
and a Cubero Cigar is the ultimate indulgence.
We paired ours with both Blend 07 -Wine,
which is naturally sweet tobacco with an oak-like taste and a taste of grape and
Blend 12 - Mocha,
that is more medium bodied with a smooth and slight coffee and chocolate overtones.

It was so much fun to experience the fusion flavors along with excitement of the game.

Murphy's Hoagie Sauce
5 Tablespoons Red Wine Vinegar
10 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
1 teaspoon dried Oregano
Blend all ingredients together in a blender until well combined.
Transfer to a spout topped bottle and enjoy!

Cigarillos add a fun spice to any party.
Perfect for people with sophisticated palettes or anyone that wants to experience smooth flavor blends and great quality for just a fraction of the price!

BBQ Chip Dip

I have never met a chip I didn't like.
BBQ Chips are high on my list but,
in the land of "dip-able" chips, they are completely ignored.

After numerous trials and many opinions from my guinea pigs,
this is the debut of my...

Light, creamy with a hint of herbs...

perfect with the chip's spices
(but I don't discriminate, it is great with regular potato chips or veggies)

BBQ Chip Dip

8oz plain yogurt (I used Greek)
4oz softened cream cheese
2 tsp. Herbes de Provence
2 Tablespoons chopped chives
1 tsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp garlic powder
dash of salt

mix all ingredients in blender and chill an hour before serving with chips

Happy Super Bowl!
