Turkey Tortilla Chips with Cranberry Salsa

Our family is coming to town for the holidays and
while we will all be anxiously awaiting Thanksgiving dinner,
my dilemma is what to serve for Taco Tuesday?
To get everyone in the spirit,
it will be Turkey Tortilla Chips and Cranberry Salsa...

I have a secret, I hardly ever use my cookie cutters for cookies.
I love to use them to make festively shaped chips.
Simple use cutter on a corn tortilla...

Aren't they cute?

Then fry the tortillas one by one,
in a small pan of very hot vegetable oil until golden and crispy...

Serve with fresh, bright Cranberry Salsa,
and watch them gobble it up!

Feliz día de accíon de gracias!

Cranberry Salsa
1 cup fresh cranberries
Juice of one lime
2 Tablespoons water
3 Tablespoons Sugar
1/2 Jalapeño pepper, finely chopped
1/2 large shallot, finely chopped
Dash of salt

Stir together cranberries, lime, water and sugar in a small saucepan.  Cook over medium low heat about 10 minutes, until cranberries start to soften and most of the liquid cooks down.  Remove from heat and let cool slightly before adding jalapeño, shallot and salt.  Refrigerate at least an hour before serving with fresh turkey chips.

Margarita Chips

I'm shaking things up for Cinco de Mayo...
not only will there be a margarita in my glass, there will be margaritas in my chip bowl!

Classic margarita glass shaped chips are easy to make,
fun to eat and most importantly...

perfect with a touch of guacamole.

I never have a margarita with out a salt rimmed glass,
and these are no exception...

A cookie cutter and tortillas are all you need,
then fry in hot vegetable oil until golden brown.

We tried our hand at cactus chips too...

they are muy bien.

BBQ Chip Dip

I have never met a chip I didn't like.
BBQ Chips are high on my list but,
in the land of "dip-able" chips, they are completely ignored.

After numerous trials and many opinions from my guinea pigs,
this is the debut of my...

Light, creamy with a hint of herbs...

perfect with the chip's spices
(but I don't discriminate, it is great with regular potato chips or veggies)

BBQ Chip Dip

8oz plain yogurt (I used Greek)
4oz softened cream cheese
2 tsp. Herbes de Provence
2 Tablespoons chopped chives
1 tsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp garlic powder
dash of salt

mix all ingredients in blender and chill an hour before serving with chips

Happy Super Bowl!

A Giant Surprise...Ho, Ho, Ho

The Green Giant...

He is an icon.

He is larger than life.

Besides Santa,
he is the only other person I know, that can pull off using the catch phrase
Ho, Ho, Ho.

and...
He has a surprise!

CHIPS!

I have a confession to make.
I would pick something salty over sweet any day.
I am always looking for healthier alternatives that taste GOOD.
When I saw the friendly, familiar Green Giant packaging
on their new Veggie and Sweet Potato Chips, I just could not resist.

Maybe the best surprise of all is how delicious they are,
and I don't have to feel guilty about eating them.

The Green Giant™ Roasted Veggie Tortilla Chips Zesty Cheddar Flavor
(my personal favorite)
are made with real vegetables, 17 grams of whole grain per serving
(48g are recommended daily), and are naturally flavored.

The Green Giant™ Multigrain Sweet Potato Chips Sea Salt Flavor
(my "sweet potato lovin'" daughter's favorite)
are made with real sweet potatoes and with 14 grams of whole grain.
Plus, they contains 40 percent less fat than regular potato chips*!
Green Giant Multigrain Sweet Potato Chips (6g per 28g serving) have 40 percent less fat than regular potato chips (10g per 28g serving).

Crisp, flavorful on their own but thick enough to dip too.

The Green Giant is a talented guy.
It is not easy to make veggies into chips and have them be great, but he did it.
He wants to see everyone's surprise talent.
Share yours
or if you want a good laugh check out other people's talents

We dipped our chips in Spinach Dip and I used their frozen chopped spinach.
Just another way The Green Giant helps make snacks so easy.
has tons of fun things, information and other fabulous recipes.
Be sure to check it out.

HO, HO, HO
