Señorita Straws - Make Taco Tuesday Great Again!

Taco Tuesday has been our weekly dinner ritual for as long as I can remember.
Sometimes we eat in, often we eat out but it's always tacos.
We keep it simple and I always want to keep it fun,
I never want anyone to siesta!
Taco Tuesday should always be a fiesta.

In an effort to spice things up,
we have been sipping festive Mexican sodas, along with our tacos,
through what I've been calling Señorita Straws.

Colorful, bright, refreshing and so easy to make.

See my tutorial here for making the mini tissue paper flowers then hot glue onto a straw.

I am on a campaign to Make Taco Tuesday Great Again.

Miracles and Willy Wonka - One Dramatic Party!

Some may think that bringing the waters to
the Drama Club end of the year party is not a very exciting job.
Well, we took some "dramatic straws" and it went from ho-hum to show stopping!

After all, Helen Keller's "Water" scene
in the school's Fall production of The Miracle Worker
was the highlight of the show...

and there is nothing like ice cold water, to wash down
all of Willy Wonka's sweetness from the Spring play...

Just beware, you can never be too sure what the Candy Man will put in your H2O
to liven up the party!

Claus Straws...the perfect seasonal sipper

Our traditional Christmas Eve gift
just got a little more festive...

We love to drop off ice cold bottled milk and homemade cookies.
Either our friends can enjoy themselves, or to leave out for Old Saint Nick.
The addition of "Claus Straws" makes it all the more fun.

But they aren't just for Christmas Eve,
they are perfect for all your seasonal sipping...

Everything tastes better through a straw!

Love is in the Air(heads)

Everyone needs to drink more water and
I am always trying to find a way to make it more fun.

What better way to jazz up an ice cold sparkling water for Valentine's Day,
than with an Airheads Xtreme Candy Straw?!
(My kids go nuts for the Xtremes,
they kept stealing my supply while I worked on this project)

Sweet, Sour and EDIBLE...

One in a glass is so festive...

but it is Valentine's Day for goodness sake,
wouldn't it be more fun with two, so you can share with your honey??

They were surprisingly easy to make...

you just need:
Airheads Xtremes
(you will need 2 strips for each straw)
Wilton Dab-n-Hold edible glue
(available at Michaels)
paper straws
strips of plastic wrap to use as twist ties
clothespins

lay the candy out,
apply glue at the top and all the way down the length of the strip...

Start at the top of the straw,
and tightly twist the candy around the straw.
You will get more than half way down the straw, before you run out of candy.

use the plastic wrap to secure the candy
to the straw at the top
(I used mine like a twist tie)
and also at the middle where the candy ended

let it set for at least a few hours
(I did overnight)

then repeat the process to wrap around the other half of the straw,
again securing with plastic wrap...

and cut off the excess
(feel free to eat the extra)

To make an Airhead Heart:
apply the edible glue to the ends and top,
as in picture below and secure with  clothespins...

 let glue dry,
then carefully remove clothespins...

Love will definitely be in the Air
and in the water!

Be an Airhead for Valentine's Day!
