Graduation is Emotional and Emoji-nal...

Graduations are always an emotional experience for parents.
It's a bittersweet time of excitement and change,
and whether they're graduating from kindergarten or high school,
you can't believe your baby is growing up.
One minute you're happy...

The next you're sad...

but you know a wink and smile with a stash of tissues will get you through!

I've got a lot of friends with kids flying the nest this year,
I hope these emojis will cover it for commencement...

Gasp, I am becoming my mother...

Thank you to Kleenex Brand for sponsoring this post.  All opinions expressed are my own.Find your style at the Kleenex Style Studio

My mom, Peggy, has simple classic style...

and we used to kid her about always having a Kleenex on hand...
in her bag, in the car, in a pocket

I am starting to realize I am the same way!

I've got Kleenex in my purse...

in my jeans...

and when I'm on the go...

Like my mom, I keep my colors fairly neutral
(with the exception of my running shoes!)
and I love how Kleenex has such fun designs to liven up my style.
Their slim, on-the-go packs are an accessory that I love to pull out and show off.

I am learning that having style like my mom is not so bad after all.

What is your style?

Feed a Fever Ginger Cookies

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Kleenex but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #KleenexTarget  http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO

The Holidays are here...and so is cold and flu season.

Every time someone in our family gets sick, I think of 2 things:
my mom saying,
"Feed a Fever, Starve a Cold"
and
the woman I used to work with,
who handed out ginger candies whenever anyone was under the weather.

In anticipation of sick children (and husband) that will need some TLC...
the Feed a Fever Ginger Cookies were born.

When you are under the weather, you want to be warm, cozy and comforted.
A plate of these light, yummy cookies with a cup of tea,
a box of Kleenex and a warm fire are all you need to feel better...

Some say ginger settles your stomach,
aids with cough and congestion and helps ease muscle aches...

this recipe has the perfect amount of fresh ginger,

and topped with just a touch of cinnamon sugar, they are a hit with everyone...

So cuddle up, have a cookie,
cold and flu season doesn't stand a chance!

Fresh Ginger Cookies
(adapted from Real Simple)
Ingredients
         2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
         1/2 teaspoon baking soda
         1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
         1/4 teaspoon salt
         1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
         1 1/4 cups sugar
         2 eggs
         2 tablespoons dark corn syrup
3 tablespoons grated peeled fresh ginger
         1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Heat oven to 350° F.

In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, ground ginger, and salt; set aside.
In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream the butter and 1 cup of the sugar on medium
speed until smooth. Add the eggs, corn syrup, and grated ginger and mix until
well combined. Blend in the flour mixture, cover, and refrigerate until slightly stiff
(the dough will be easier to handle).

In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon and the remaining sugar. Form the dough into
1-inch balls and roll each in the cinnamon sugar. Place 2 inches apart on parchment
paper lined cookie sheets and bake 12 to 14 minutes or until lightly browned.
Cool on a wire rack.
