Dorm Party! Birthday Cake Care Package

With my oldest child away at college,

it has definitely been a year of new experiences for all of us.

This will be her first birthday away from home, she will be in the dorm and I want to,

"Let them eat cake!".

A box full of microwaveable Miss Jones Cakes in a Cup...

party hats, lights and candles ought to do the trick...

and just a touch of "milk money",

because that is what college kids drink these days, right?

Don't worry, I didn't forget the sprinkles.

Comic Cake!

Creative, clever, colorful, funny, super, heroic...

just a few words to describe my son and also the epic phenomenon know as

Comic Con.

The perfect way to celebrate his birthday and his gift of a trip to Comic Con?

A Comic Cake, of course!

An ode to what he is most looking forward to seeing...

Primarily the blockbuster hits like Deadpool

and Japanese Anime sensations like One-Punch Man...

I, on the other hand, am thrilled with the resurgence of my favorite Archie Comics,

so I'll be on the hunt for Betty, Veronica and Jughead...

And forget dressing up in costumes,

just a dab of Stan Lee Cologne is the best Comic Con accessory of all!

It will definitely be a MARVEL-ous time,
wish me luck...

Mermaid Wishes and Thank Yous

Mermaids are magical and mysterious...

and from what I hear,

they grant wishes...

lots of fun,

colorful wishes...

Mermaids are also very polite.

They always write thank you notes...

and it is always easier to write with a fun bracelet on your wrist...

so go ahead,
make a wish!

The First Day of Spring

The first day of Spring
is always a happy day.
The end of winter, blooming flowers and sunny days.
It is extra special for us because,15 years ago it coincided with the arrival of

Carolyn Murphy!

Wishing everyone a bright, sunny day,

especially for my sweet, special girl.

Glittered Cupcake Holder with Mod Podge Stencils

Everyone loves cupcakes, polka dots and glitter, don't they?

We are surprising someone special with all three for their birthday...

I had so much fun jazzing up my glass container with Mod Podge's new adhesive backed stencils.

I have always had problems using stencils. For me, they never seem to stay put to give a clear image.

These were so easy to apply and with a little Mod Podge and glitter,

helped turn something ordinary into something fabulous.

Peel off the stencil and apply to your surface.

Dab Mod Podge on with a pouncer and,

completely cover, working quickly so glue doesn't start to dry.

Then peel off stencil...

and pour on glitter...

Shake off excess and let container sit for a few hours.

Dust any loose remnants off with a dry brush and

it's party time...

There are a fun variety of stencils available exclusively at Michael's,

the possibilities are endless!
