Pecan Pie Milkshake

What is Thanksgiving without pie?!
It was 78 degrees here today though,
so I'm thinking we might need to shake it up this year, milkshake it up.

The idea for this post was entirely inspired by friend Andrea from Salty Canary.
I recently attended a milkshake event she hosted at the Mixbook headquarters.
Decadent, over-the-top and marvelous.
She demonstrated how she makes her infamous Pumpkin Pie Milkshake.
Since my husband is all about Pecan Pie at Thanksgiving,
I thought I would try my hand at turning it into a frozen feast.

Following Andrea's style,
the real eye catcher in the delicious treat is a tiny slice of pie garnish...

I mean, don't you just want to drink it in?

I know my husband is going to be thankful for this...

Pecan Pie Milkshake
makes 3 shakes

1 cup ice cold milk
4 cups vanilla ice cream
1/2 pecan pie in a jar
(many stores have it, I get mine at Trader Joe's - its a mixture of molasses, pecans and spices)
whipped cream and tiny slices of pie for topping

Combine first 3 ingredients together in a blender and pour into glasses, leaving room for whipped cream.  Place in freezer.  Cut tiny slices of pecan pie and carefully place onto skewer cut to correct size for your glass.  Remove glasses from freezer, top with whipped cream then add your pie garnish.

  1. I love this idea, Pecan pie is a favorite around here but in milkshake form? Totally brilliant!
