Wicked-ly good Ding Dongs...

The term Ding Dong has a few differnet meanings...
the sound a door bell makes, someone that is not so smart
and a cream filled chocolate treat to name a few.
As Halloween approaches, only one song about Ding Dongs is in my head...
"Ding Dong the Witch is dead".
Elphaba, these are for you!

Playbill topped Hostess Ding Dongs are wickedly good fun
for thespians, Broadway fans and the enchanted in habitants of the Emerald City..

Pecan Pie Milkshake

What is Thanksgiving without pie?!
It was 78 degrees here today though,
so I'm thinking we might need to shake it up this year, milkshake it up.

The idea for this post was entirely inspired by friend Andrea from Salty Canary.
I recently attended a milkshake event she hosted at the Mixbook headquarters.
Decadent, over-the-top and marvelous.
She demonstrated how she makes her infamous Pumpkin Pie Milkshake.
Since my husband is all about Pecan Pie at Thanksgiving,
I thought I would try my hand at turning it into a frozen feast.

Following Andrea's style,
the real eye catcher in the delicious treat is a tiny slice of pie garnish...

I mean, don't you just want to drink it in?

I know my husband is going to be thankful for this...

Pecan Pie Milkshake
makes 3 shakes

1 cup ice cold milk
4 cups vanilla ice cream
1/2 pecan pie in a jar
(many stores have it, I get mine at Trader Joe's - its a mixture of molasses, pecans and spices)
whipped cream and tiny slices of pie for topping

Combine first 3 ingredients together in a blender and pour into glasses, leaving room for whipped cream.  Place in freezer.  Cut tiny slices of pecan pie and carefully place onto skewer cut to correct size for your glass.  Remove glasses from freezer, top with whipped cream then add your pie garnish.

Grilled Donuts and Coffee Ice Cream

I did it...
I managed to combine 3 of my husband's favorite things,
into one amazing Father's Day dessert.
Coffee, Donuts and Grilling...

Donuts and coffee are a classic combo,
but when you lightly grill the donuts and serve with coffee ice cream,
your taste buds will never be the same.

To make these, I sliced glazed and sugar donuts horizontally and buttered the cut side.
Then cooked them on a grill pan over medium heat for just a minute or two.
(you could also use a bbq)
Serve with your favorite cup of joe ice cream...

and of course you will want to dunk...

but this time it's the coffee ON the donut!

Iced Coffee Granitas

Happy July!
It is hot but I have the perfect way to stay cool...
Iced Coffee Granitas

These International Delight Iced Coffees are my new addiction.
I love having them on hand,
all the fun of coffee house drinks right at home.
For these granitas I used Mocha flavor only because my daughter and her friends,
swiped the Caramel Macchiato as soon as I brought it home from the store.
Simply pour Iced Coffee into a pie dish and fill until it is about 1/2" deep...
Freeze for at least 4 hours...
then scrape with a fork until it is the consistency of shaved ice...
Icy, creamy, refreshing and
the Mocha has just the right combo of Coffee and Chocolate...
Who wants a bite?

International Delight is giving away 100 Ice Coffee Tumblers a week until August 29th.
All of the details are on their Facebook Page
They are also hosting an awesome Twitter Party on July 10th at 1pm ET.

Christmas Crab and Fairytale Brownie Fun

This weekend was our
Annual Christmas Crab at the Counter Celebration

We get together with the Ingrams and have a fabulous feast.

This year a special package arrived just in time for the big event...

They are the most amazing brownies, that come in a decadent array of flavors.
Everyone in our family has a favorite but
they all know to stay away from the Toffee Crunch, those are all mine!

We order them all the time, the packaging is amazing.
It is such a fun and easy gift to give and such a treat when they arrive.

Crab and Brownies....I love the holidays!
