My Summer, My Kia...Filled with Fun Festivals

Summer goes WAY too fast.
Once it gets started it seems the countdown back to school starts.
We are trying to make the most of it with what our family has named,
The Summer of Fun Family Festivals.

All events that are an easy drive but seem like a world away.

We already have 2 under our belts!

The Sunset Celebration Weekend
a sunny, sensational day full of
cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs, expert gardening tips,
home and travel ideas, food and crafts,
all on the fabulous grounds of Sunset Magazines Corporate Headquarters
Dubbed, "the best backyard party in the west",
this year's theme was,
Why we love the West

The Sunset Party Crew...

Next up was a festival and concert in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park,
Alice Radio's Summerthing.

My daughter is a HUGE Ed Sherran fan and she and her friends were so excited to go.

Well, in typical San Francisco Summer Style,
it rained ALL day.

The lines were long...

but that did not "dampen" anyone's spirits...

The first three acts were amazing
Finish Ticket, Ginny Blackmore, Sara Bareilles...

and then we got
THE NEWS...
due to the weather Ed Sherran's flight was having trouble landing at SFO
and they were not sure if he would make it to the show...WHAT?!

Well, we waited, and waited, and waited
(did I mention it constantly rained ALL day?)
and then-there he was!

What a show, what a talent, what an unbelievable concert,
just Ed and his guitar, the crowd was rivited
(wild and crazy, too)

Don't these look like happy campers?

They weasled their way up to a few rows from the stage.

Summerthing is going to be hard to top but next on our list are:
The Gilroy Garlic Festival
(Garlic Ice Cream, anyone?)
America's Cup in the San Francisco Bay
(sunny days watching sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge, anyone?)

What better way to get to our next outings than in a Kia?
On a trip recently we rented a bright red Kia Soul,
As soon as we saw it in the lot,
my daughter was so excited she had to Instagram it to show her friends!

We had such a good time in it my kids are begging us to get one!
I had never been in a Kia before.
I was so impressed with how well it drove and how roomy it was inside.
I am never comfortable driving in a new city, but the Soul made it a breeze.

Lucky for us the Kia Dealership is on the way to our next outing :)

Make the most of your summer,
fill it with festivals, fun and family.

  1. I can't believe you and the girls sat in the rain the whole day...and had fun! Are you sure you're not from Seattle?

  2. Love that ... I've heard the Kia is a great car for teens. Might have to consider it when we get Eli set up with a car.
