Salty Dogs and Sweet Hearts - Valentine's Day Cocktail

I created my Sweet’N Low Salty Dogs and Sweet Hearts drink recipe, as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #SweetNLowStars

Love is in the air and at the bar!
One of my favorite drinks
is a Salty Dog and I've sweetened it up for Valentine's Day...

A simple cocktail of fresh grapefruit juice and vodka,
poured up into a martini glass with a salted rim.
But the LOVE-liest part of my new version is the sweetened grapefruit garnish.

The hearts are so simple to make.
Cut grapefruit into slices about 1/2" thick,
make a slice in one side, pull apart slightly,
then cut into segments.
(if the individual segments seem too small for a heart,
 keep 2 segments together)

Take your segment...

make a slice in the middle...
(but don't go all the way down)

and cut off the peel and pith

You may need to round the corners slightly with a paring knife and
ta-da...

Now the sweet part -
sprinkle with Sweet'N Low...

and you have the perfect Sweet Heart...

The Salty Dog
fill a cocktail shaker with ice
add 2 oz chilled vodka and 2 oz fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
Stir then strain into a salt rimmed martini glass

Garnish with a Sweet Heart and enjoy.
I know you'll LOVE it.

Cheers!
