Cinco de Mayo- Mexico Memories

Growing up in Southern California,
my parents and I drove south of the border often for vacations.

To celebrate Cinco de Mayo this year,
I'm sharing some of my favorite memories from those trips with my kids...

We spent long, hot days at the beach,
bartering with the jewelry salesmen that would comb the shoreline.
We drank "hecho in Mexico" Cokes and chomped on colorful chicles...

My mom always made us stop at the pottery stands
on the way home and filled the back seat of the car with new treasures...

and of course I always came home with a new
embroidered dress...
(if only I still had my huarache sandals!)

Gracias Mexico for so many good times...

Happy Cinco de Mayo
