Flip Flop Floats -The perfect Summer Ice Cream Treat

Summer is here and it's flip flop season.
Not only for our feet but for our dessert!
Instead of mixing soda with ice cream for our floats, I'm "moo-ving" things around.
I've flip flopped the ingredients,
with frozen soda cubes...

It's a fun twist on the original and the delicious combinations are endless.
You can be traditional with root beer...

Tropical with pineapple...

Happy with strawberry...

actually "berry" happy...

And, orange you glad it's summer?
The floating mandarin  may be my favorite...

which is a heavenly blend of sweetened cream and rich egg yolks that are churned together
 for the perfect velvety texture.
For one float,
I mix about 3 scoops of ice cream with 1/2 cup of milk in a blender,
and pour into a chilled glass.

It is the perfect base,
Clover Sonoma Ice Cream has no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.
And it is so good!

Next top your ice cream with soda ice cubes in the flavor of your choice.
To make them, simply freeze soda in silicon molds overnight...

I usually use 4-5 per float...

Let the flip flop float festivities begin.

We enjoy Clover Sonoma Ice Cream all year long.
They are a third-generation, family owned and operated dairy in Northern California.
Their ice cream comes in eleven decadent flavors,
including Salted Caramel, Fudge Brownie and Chocolate Peanut Butter.

This summer is going to be "legend dairy"!

Homemade Hadley's Date Shake - a Palm Springs Tradition

This is the first year we have been home in Northern California
for Thanksgiving in 12 years.
We usually go see my parents in Palm Springs,
where we always have a colorful, sunny and festive Turkey Day.
One of our desert traditions is going to Hadley's Fruit Orchards
for their famous Date Shakes.
I thought we would kick off our celebration this year by making them at home!

These shakes are simple and sweet,
with only 3 ingredients.
The dates add just the right savory touch...

You can get their recipe here
I always use

It's a little bit of Palm Springs, right here in San Francisco!

Thank you to Clover Sonoma for supplying their amazing milk and ice cream for this post.

I scream for Kit Kats! My favorite use for Halloween candy

Halloween...
that time of year filled with screams, chills and candy!
This year I am combining them all in one amazing treat-
The Kit Kat Ice Cream Sandwich.

The trick is to use frozen jumbo Kit Kats, your favorite ice cream and sprinkles.
Break off 2 sections of 4 Kit Kats and scoop the ice cream in between.
Quickly add the sprinkles along the sides and place on a plastic wrap lined plate.

Pop back in the freezer for at least an hour and...
enjoy your sand-witches!

A Sundae Walk - A Portable Ice Cream Treats

Eating on the move can be tricky.
With the genius invention of Walking Tacos
(making and enjoying your taco right out of an individual tortilla chip bag)
things got a lot easier.
I decided to elevate our next tailgate dessert with
Walking Sundaes!

They are simple to assemble and so fun to eat...

Open an individual bag of your favorite cookie...
(you can squish the bag so the cookie pieces are more crumbled)

drizzle in chocolate sauce...

give it a squirt of whipped cream...

sprinkle in sprinkles...

and insert a fudgesicle.
Stir in the bag so your toppings adhere and enjoy off the stick or dig in with a spoon.

A Sundae walk never looked so sweet!

Fudgesicle Milk

We love chocolate milk around here and summer is no exception.
Hot July days become cooler and sweeter...
especially after we make Fudgesicle Milk.

Drop them in...

grab a gallon...
(ours is always ice cold Clover Sonoma)

pour it on...

give it a whirl...

and enjoy!

This easy, chocolatey, cream creation is
Ice Cream Money well spent.

Thank you to Clover Sonoma for providing the marvelous milk for this post and helping us celebrate a Summer of cLOVEr!

Holiday Root Beer, Reindeer Floats!

Sleigh bells ring are you listening?
 'Tis the season for
Root-deer Floats!

Silly, refreshing, fun and so easy for parties,
especially when you set up a
Root-deer Float Station

simply chill some
"Rein-beer"...

gather a few
"Snowballs"...

ask Rudolf for some
"Noses"...

and add
minty "Antlers"...
(in most stores the holiday baking aisle)

then
"Dash Away, Dash Away, Dash Away All"!
