A Summer with Anna Karenina -Matryoshka Snacks

As my kids get older, the months go faster and faster and
the summer reading books seem to get bigger and bigger!
For the last few weeks we have been immersed in 1870's Russia with our new friend,
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy.

Finishing an epic, 800+ page novel proved to be an arduous task for my daughter,
so I wanted to brighten her day and keep her motivated.
I think the epitome of Russian whimsy and charm are Matryoshka Nesting Dolls,
so why not make them into a playful cheese and cracker snack?

Yummy, silly and revolutionary
(Russian Revolutionary that is)
they made her laugh and gave her energy to march back into Moscow.

Of course, Seeing is for Reading and she needed all gazillion words in the book to be crystal clear.
Her Zenni Optical eye glasses, were not only colorful and totally on-trend,
but helped her focus on Tolstoy's tragic tale.
Zenni offers prescription and non-prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses
so families can see and experience the best of summer and reading.
They encourage everyone to have a good time with reading...
bring your book to the campsite, pool or beach
or act out your favorite scenes making the characters come to life!

These Russian Doll treats are as fun to make as they are to eat.
I think I am going to rename them Matryo-snacks!
All of the steps are in the video below...
