Trading in the Barbie convertible

I can't believe it,
in a few short months, my baby will be driving.

It won't be her Barbie convertible and it won't have plastic toy keys.
It will be a real, 4, 000 pound automobile.
A big, powerful, scary machine that she has to learn to control.
We talk a lot about being cautious and all the things that can distracted you when driving;
texting, checking Instagram, finding the right song, friends in the car, etc.
My kids are good at pointing out if I ever glance at my phone,
so I am hoping they will be just as aware once they are behind the wheel.

Knowledge is power though, and I am so glad that
to increase awareness of the dangers of distracted driving.
The statistics are staggering and as I talk about them with my daughter,
I realize that it is so important that everyone reduces distractions in the car as much as possible.
According to the National Highway Traffic Administration in 2012,
3, 300 fatalities and approximately 421, 000 injuries were due to distracted driving related accidents.

It just takes a minute to get everything situated before you start the car,
their "Wreck-less Check list" found here is awesome.

Carolyn is a teenager however,
and her eyes tend to roll and glaze over when I lecture her too much.
I decided to start my own mini campaign.
Random "hands on the wheel" manicures as a reward for staying focused.
It is much more fun to drive when you have pretty nails, right??

Decide to Drive is holding a Catch Phrase Contest until June 13th.
All of the details are on their website here.
There is money to be won, and that will pay for a lot of gas

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.
Thank you for your support as I work with fabulous brands
to be able to continue creating for Jaco'lyn Murphy Designs.
