Life is just a bowl of Cherry Sorbet

Saturday was the hottest day we have had this year.
Luckily for us, it also coincided with a special delivery of
Sunset Ranch Cherries!

And what did we do with our HUGE bowl of cherries?

Take one guess...

Yes, we made amazing
Cherry Sorbet.

So easy, refreshing and
what unbelievable flavor and color...

and a few opted for the
"Murphy-style Cherry Garcia"...
(just throw in a handful of chocolate chips)

Our Cherry Sorbet
(adapted from The Perfect Scoop by David Lebovitz)

2 pounds of pitted, halved cherries
1 cup of water
3/4 cup plus 2 Tablespoons of sugar
1 tsp fresh lemon juice

In a medium nonreactive saucepan,
heat the cherries, water, sugar and lemon juice over medium heat,
stirring occasionally for about 15 minutes.
Remove from heat and let stand until room temperature.
Puree the mixture in a blender until smooth.
Chill thoroughly in refrigerator.
Mix in freezer bowl of an Ice Cream Maker
for approximately 20 minutes.

Place in air tight container and keep in freezer until ready to serve.

Thank you Milanis,
your cherries are the best and the family is even better!

  2. Are there any other options rather than placing it in a Freezer Bowl of an Ice Cream Maker? (Sadly, I don't have one) I would love to make this amazing sorbet. Can I just chill in refrigerator and then go straight to the air tight containers and freezer! Thx - Susie

    1. Hi Susie,
I am not sure, I have only done it in an ice cream maker. I think you could just put it straight in the freezer but it will not be the same consistency, give it a try!

  9. My goodness, such a beautiful color! I just discovered the taste of cherries is nothing like the sweet mess on that comes in fruit cocktails and I'm loving everything I can get my hands on with cherries. thank you for sharing the recipe! I came over Stephanie Lynn's party. Have a great week! Lizy

  10. I just put a batch of this in the fridge to chill overnight... So excited to churn and try it tomorrow!

Question: what about the recipe from "The Perfect Scoop" did you change (and why)? I noticed you said "adapted". Just curious...

    Thanks!
